The Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern are loving life under Antonio Conte. The Italian has brought passion, determination and – most importantly – success to Stamford Bridge, and he’s quickly gained hero status amongst our resident Blues.
A recent report from the Daily Mail regarding his future, then, is sure to darken the mood of the Chelsea faithful.
According to the Daily Mail, Antonio Conte is looking set to leave the club at the end of the season, with the Italian described as ‘increasingly likely’ to depart Stamford Bridge come the summer. Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich, then, has a big decision on his hands – with the Russian often particularly fussy with his managerial choices.
A few names have already been drawn up, it is said, with both Max Allegri and Luis Enrique on his shortlist.
Antonio Conte has had a successful stint at Stamford Bridge, but it hasn’t been without problems. Conte has had to deal with a couple of pretty poor transfer windows, whilst player problems – notably between him and Diego Costa – have also been a concerning. That being said, though, he has achieved success all the while, and so it would be a huge blow for Chelsea if they lost him.
Max Allegri and Luis Enrique are, of course, fantastic managers and would be good choices, but our resident Blues are firmly within the ‘Conte in‘ camp.
Losing Conte, regardless of who replaces him, would be a blow for Chelsea. The Italian has done remarkably with limited resources in the last 18 months, and if they were to lose him, it would be a big disappointment.
Clearly things are happening behind the scenes, but if Roman Abramovich is needing to make a decision, surely he needs to back his boss and offer him whatever he wants. He’s done enough to deserve that.
