Everton are surely expected to make a tonne of sales this transfer window with Ashley Williams, Morgan Schneiderlin and Yannick Bolasie all set to follow Wayne Rooney out of Goodison Park, according to the Daily Star.
However, one player that is expected to remain in Merseyside for the foreseeable future is defender Mason Holgate.
The Liverpool Echo reports manager Marco Silva sees Holgate as vital to his plans while Director of Football Marcel Brands is also said to be a huge admirer of the 21-year-old.
Given the departure of Funes Mori to Villarreal and the expected exit of Williams, Everton are likely to bring in another central defender to the club. But considering the age of Phil Jagielka and lack of quality cover for right-back Seamus Coleman, Holgate is worth keeping around.
As well signing a centre-back to replace Mori and possibly Williams, Everton are also hoping to recruit a new left-back this window as they attempt to find a long-term successor for Leighton Baines.
As for £6.3m-rated (via Transfermarkt) Holgate, his spot in Everton’s squad looks safe.

Was never going anywhere. He is our best CB when healthy… and yes, better than Jags.

Thank goodness. It didn't make any sense to sell him.
