With Nikola Kalinic and Jason Roberts being Blackburn’s only two natural centre forwards, Sam Allardyce is desperate to bring more firepower to Ewood Park this summer. Big Sam has been handed a transfer kitty of just £2.5m and will therefore be focusing on a number of cheap targets.
The Lancashire club have made enquiries into bringing in Tottenham’s Mexican forward Giovanni Dos Santos who could be secured for a bargain price following a disappointing season with Spurs. Bought for £5m from Barcelona in 2008, he has so far failed to make any lasting impression on Harry Redknapp and was sent on loan to Ipswich and Galatasary last season.
Liverpool’s David Ngog has been linked with a loan move to Blackburn. The Frenchman’s future at Anfield is uncertain following the managerial upheaval on Merseyside and competition to partner Fernando Torres remains fierce.
Finally, Rovers have reportedly tabled an offer to former Spanish international Fernando Morientes. The 33-year-old striker is now a free agent after leaving Marseilles this summer and is keen to return to the Premiership following his brief spell with Liverpool in the 2005/06 season.
