Manchester City supporters in the Transfer Tavern are eagerly anticipating their side’s Premier League clash with Leicester City on Saturday evening, with the Citizens knowing that victory would move them 16 points clear of neighbours Manchester United at the summit.
Pep Guardiola’s men go into their clash at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday off the back of a 1-1 draw with Burnley in their last league outing, which was just the fourth game in the league this season that the North West outfit have failed to win. Danilo gave them the lead with a fine 25-yard strike but the visitors weren’t able to get the crucial second goal, allowing Sean Dyche’s side to clinch a point late on through Johann Berg Gudmundsson.
Subsequently, there have been a few disappointed Citizens fans in the Tavern this week, and their mood is unlikely to improve if recent comments from manager Guardiola in his pre-Leicester press conference are anything to go by (via the club’s official Twitter handle), which suggests that influential ace David Silva will miss the clash.
The 32-year-old has played a hugely significant part in City’s dominance this season with five goals and eight assists in 21 Premier League appearances, striking up quite the partnership with fellow midfielder Kevin De Bruyne in the middle of the park.
Yet the Spain international missed their draw with Burnley last week, and recent comments from Guardiola suggest that he will indeed miss their clash with Claude Puel’s Foxes on Saturday as well.

And given how integral Silva has been for the club this term, this is sure to come as a big setback for Guardiola ahead of their potentially tricky clash with the 2015/16 Premier League champions on Saturday.
Landlord’s verdict: David Silva has played a key part in helping Manchester City to a 13-point lead at the top of the Premier League this season, netting five times and laying on eight assists for Pep Guardiola’s side.
However, the 32-year-old looks set to miss their clash with Leicester City on Saturday, as per manager Guardiola, who admitted as much in his pre-match press conference on Friday.
And this is sure to come as a big setback for Guardiola and indeed the club’s supporters, who will be well aware of the threat posed by Claude Puel’s Foxes ahead of their meeting this weekend.
