Big transfer business to continue at Man United as Mourinho looks to summer window

Manchester United fans in the Transfer Tavern will be hoping their side can be more clinical next season and be able to compete with arch-rivals Manchester City and exciting news from the Independent could give them some encouragement.

The media outlet has made the claims that Jose Mourinho is keen on bringing in four big-name players as he looks to continue his overhaul of the Old Trafford outfit, with his desire to build a partnership in the centre of defence with Eric Bailly.

The report states that the Red Devils will be targeting either Tottenham Hotspur’s Toby Alderweireld or Barcelona’s Samuel Umtiti, who had a solid performance against Chelsea in their Champions League second-leg.

However, with the potential for new arrivals to join the club, Mourinho is also keen to offload a number of stars from his wage cost as he feels they do not offer what he requires. Reports state that he could be prepared to let seven first-team members leave.

Paul Pogba had recently been considered as a possible departure following his recent relationship problems with the Portuguese boss, although those now appear to have been mended. David De Gea has been highly chased by Real Madrid in the past and has proven to be a key man for the Red Devils, although the club is not concerned with the interest as he still has a contract until 2019, with a further year to extend if chosen.

Landlord’s Verdict

Should Mourinho complete a number of deals this summer, fans in the Transfer Tavern will be excited, but also concerned with who could be arriving and departing. The likes of Willian have been linked in the past, although supporters will be worried about who goes.

Even after all this spending, the overhaul continues…
