Speak to West Ham United fans at The Transfer Tavern and most will tell you they don’t expect to regularly be competing with England’s biggest clubs for signings on a consistent basis. They recognise the harsh realities of the transfer window and more often than not hope to see the Hammers uncover a hidden talent that flew under the radar of top four contenders.
Sometimes though they can offer players something that the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United can’t. First team football, responsibility, the chance to become legends with an appreciative and passionate fanbase are just some of the attractions that can set the Irons apart.
Perhaps those are the reasons that Nigerian talent Henry Onyekuru is said to have snubbed Arsene Wenger and his Arsenal to take the opportunity to sign for the Hammers.
That’s according to The Daily Mail anyway, who say that Slaven Bilic is hoping to conclude a £7m deal this week for the red hot Eupen youngster.
He’s been tearing Belgian football apart this season, scoring an incredible 25 goals and assisting 14 more despite his tender age of 20.
The Mail reckon that the player was convinced to join up with Bilic as it’s better for him in this stage of his career to gain regular first team football.
What do you make of this move West Ham fans? Are you excited by his potential or would you prefer Bilic to make a move for a more established, safer talent?
