The West Ham fans in the Transfer Tavern think that a lot needs to change between now and next season, and Slaven Bilic seemingly knows exactly what he must do…
Writing in his column for the Evening Standard, Bilic has revealed: “Now, after this final game, we will try to improve the squad. We need quality, not so much quantity…We have to refresh our squad and improve our first XI”.
This is something that most in the pub agree on, given how poor the Hammers were in that regard last season. A host of players joined the club – including Gokhan Tore and Simone Zaza – and failed to deliver on every count. Seemingly, the idea was that the Europa League would demand far great squad depth – so the club decided to bolster the squad out.
Unfortunately, the club didn’t plan on dropping out of the Europa League so early, and so they’ve ended up with a bulky squad with very litle quality.
Our landlord thinks that West Ham need to sign 2 or 3 players that are going to genuinely improve the squad, and if they can do that, he reckons they’ll be back in Europe in no time.
