Everton fans playing darts in the Tavern might have hit the bullseye after hearing that Jordanian billionaire Hasan Abdullah Ismaik is currently in advanced talks with regards to the financial takeover of the club, according to Winner Sports.
Everton are renowned as being one of the best run clubs in England in recent times and with the Toffees already possessing a strong fan base, a talented young team and a top manager, they have struck many suitors as a potential investment opportunity in recent times.
Current owner Bill Kenwright has conducted a good job at the club since he acquired a majority stake in 2004, but the Everton fans now feel the club needs a fresh cash injection in a bid to step up to the next level and consistently challenge for European football.
Recently, it had emerged that an American consortium led by John Jay Moores, former owner of the San Diego Padres baseball team, were in talks over a takeover at Goodison Park. However, Everton have not revealed much regarding the talks with Moores and the negotiations currently remain at a tentative stage.
However, Winner Sports believe that Everton are interesting another possible buyer in the form of Jordanian billionaire Hasan Abdullah Ismaik, who has increased his desire to purchase the Merseyside outfit. It is reported that a source close to Everton told Winner Sports:
“Mr Hasan Abdullah Ismaik met with Bill Kenwright at his London office. Talks are on-going and progressing quickly, and Mr. Hasan is hopeful of concluding the takeover as soon as possible.”
Ismaik is a construction magnate believed to be worth around $2 billion, who was named on the Forbes rich list last year and owns a 60 percent stake of German side 1860 Munich, who he saved from insolvency back in 2011. However, he has since become frustrated by the fact that he is not able to take sole charge of the decision making of the club’s affairs due to German regulations.
As a result, Ismaik had stated that he is ready to pull out of his project in Germany and, in turn, invest in an English side.
The Daily Mail also state that Ismaik is looking to invest in an English club, with two Premier League and two Championship clubs apparently catching his eye. The billionaire is quoted by the Daily Mail as telling Sportsmail:
“The difficulties we are facing in Germany mean we are kind of regretting not coming to the UK and we think we should now come and buy a club here and invest in a country where football is so entertaining and passionate.
“English football is full of big teams with big histories and with an incredible league and great support from the federation for the small teams and investors.
“There are also the rules that encourage and help investors and give them a hand so that they can make their clubs successful. It might take a month, it might take three years but we are considering investing in a club in England.”
While Ismaik did not reveal which club he is looking to purchase during his interview with Sportsmail, Winner Sports believe that the 39-year old has his eyes set on investing in Everton and providing the required funds which could transform the Toffees into a major force in England for years to come.
