Birmingham City to snap up former West Ham United ace?

4279951There were a lot of surprised fans in the Football Transfer Tavern last night after Hull City/Tigers versus West Ham United actually turned out to be a good game.

Before the game the only person looking forward to the match up was former Hammers midfielder Mohamed Diame who swapped Upton Park for Humberside.

And according to talkSPORT, another player that could be swapping East London for a club further up the country is Jack Collison.

The former West Ham midfielder was released at the end of the season after his contract with the Boleyn Ground club ended.

But reports suggest that the Welsh international midfielder is training with West Midlands outfit Birmingham City about a permanent deal.

Collison has had trials at Queens Park Rangers, AFC Bournemouth and Ipswich Town this summer but only the latter have offered him a contract.

Blues boss Lee Clark confirmed the midfielder is training with the club as he looks to strengthen his side.

Clark said: “He’s just training with us, for a couple of days. When there is a player like Jack Collison on the open market, he is a terrific footballer, obviously there’s going to be interest.

“But we have just let him come in and train with us, to have a look. There’s nothing imminent in terms of potential signings etcetera. I know his agent very well, I have done for many years.

“We had a conversation and it is no cost to us. Jack has footed his own expenses to come in and train.

“I think he has got a deal in the offing from Ipswich which he is mulling over. Like I said, we’re just having a look.”

West Ham fans. Collison had a great relationship with Hammers fans; do you think he is good enough for another go in the top flight or is the Championship the right level for the Welshman? Let us know your thoughts below.
