Crystal Palace fans here in the Tavern are hoping they can build on Tuesday’s 1-1 draw with the Hammers, as transfer window signings will have their effect on proceedings.
Roy Hodgson has been a busy man this transfer window as he conducted a major overhaul at Selhurst Park, that’s seen him acquire the services of three players in the month of January. However, it wasn’t all positive for the Eagles after failing to push through deals in time for three other additions, as one of these notable absentees was a goalkeeper that Palace have been chasing for some time. But, it now looks as if they’ll have to wait to add the shot-stopper to their ranks, as according to journalist Ed Maylon’s personal Twitter account, no fee was agreed with Getafe for the signing of Vincente Guaita with him likely to join in the summer now.
Palace didn’t get a deal sheet in for Guaita. No fee agreed with Getafe so deal will happen in the summer. Ronnow will join instead

Indeed, Crystal Palace set their sights on securing the services of a goalkeeper this transfer window as a weak point in their current side, but now as they enter February empty handed this could be a turning point in the club’s season. Vincent Guaita was eyed up as the first-choice for the Eagles with an affordable buy-out clause seemingly set firmly in their sights, but things didn’t turn out. Although, with terms already agreed a deal can still take place in the summer, even after Roy Hodgson approached the Spanish club with a reduced bid that was swiftly rejected.
Nevertheless, with him likely to complete his move across to Selhurst Park in the summer, the Eagles will be looking to ensure survival in order to make this a reality.
A quality goalkeeper that has a considerably low buy-out clause, but the failure to get a deal pushed through before the end of the window could potentially be a massive blow for the Eagles. In a fragile area of the field that’s lacked quality so far this season, going the remainder of the current campaign, in the same manner, could halt potential progress.
