According to talkSPORT, Carlo Ancelotti has ruled out the possibility of Arsenal signing Iker Casillas following rumours that Arsene Wenger was hoping to land him in January.
The 33-year-old previously lost his place in the Real Madrid team to Diego Lopez and has most recently been dropped by Spain in their Euro 2016 qualifying fixture this week, leading punters to believe that he would be willing to seek a fresh start.
But despite it being a tough time for Casillas, Ancelotti has come out and defended his out-of-form keeper, insisting that he has no intentions to sell the veteran stopper.
Punters believe Casillas’ confidence has been knocked after the heavy criticism he received for his performance at the World Cup in Brazil.
When questioned on Casillas’ future, Ancelotti said: “The matter is closed.”
He added: “His future is here, it is part of the history of this club and in a few years, when he retires as a football player, Iker will come to this forum along with other great champions at the club to talk about all the European Cups he has won with this shirt.”
