Blow for Mourinho with £71m-man set to snub interest

The Manchester United fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern have had no end of rumours to pick through over the last few days as manager Jose Mourinho looks to build a side capable of taking on the Premier League title challenge in the new season.

However, while the former Chelsea and Real Madrid manager will normally get who he wants in a summer window, it looks like one target will be going nowhere.

Atletico Madrid star Saul Niguez, who bagged a hat-trick to propel the Spain U21 side into the final of the European Championships in Poland on Tuesday night, has been scouted by officials from Old Trafford but is set to stay put in the Spanish capital, according to reports from The Daily Mail.

The 22-year-old scored a stunner in the 3-1 win over the Italians but will not be considering any offers once he returns from the championships due to Atleti’s transfer ban, which restricts them from registering players until at least January next year.

United fans, we want to hear from you! Is losing out on Saul a blow? Did you ever really consider the Spaniard a top target for Mourinho? Let us know in the comments below…
