Everton fans in the Transfer Tavern can’t stop singing even though the Premier League season has ended following the latest developments at Goodison Park.
The Blues today announced that Sam Allardyce has been sacked as manager despite lifting the Toffees to eighth in the Premier League table. The ex-England manager rescued them from a relegation battle, but his style of play saw him lose faith with the Everton supporters.
Former Watford manager, Marco Silva, was Everton’s first choice back in November when they sacked Ronald Koeman. Now they need a new manager again; the former Olympiacos boss is reportedly wanted again. He has a massive task on his hands to right the wrongs of last summer’s transfer window.
With director of football Steve Walsh being replaced by PSV’s Marcel Brands, summer recruitment has already started. Silva’s first signing at Goodison Park should then be RB Leipzig winger – Bruma. Valued at £11.25m by Transfermarkt, the 23-year-old joined the club last summer from Galatasaray for £11m. He has netted seven goals in all competitions since moving to Germany.
Yannick Bolasie has failed to impress since returning from injury, so Bruma would be the ideal replacement. Blessed with tremendous pace, the Portuguese international would be a handful for Premier League defenders. He can play right across the forward line enabling Silva to rotate his attackers next year.
At just 23, his best years are ahead of him. With Bruma on one wing and Theo Walcott on the other, Cenk Tosun would have plenty of service as he looks to fire Everton back into top four contention.
