Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern are breathing a heavy sigh of relief after hearing reports that a European giant has ruled-out a move for their star player.
The Daily Mail quotes Barcelona sporting director Roberto Fernandez as ruling out a move for Arsenal full-back Hector Bellerin, with speculation rising after it was confirmed Dani Alves will leave Catalonia this summer.
‘He is a magnificent player but it is not something that we will be pursuing.’
Bellerin has enjoyed a tremendous season with Arsenal, being named in the PFA Team of the Year, but links to Barcelona, where he developed as a youngster, have always been present- and the Gunners will have been worried after losing Cesc Fabregas in similar circumstances five years ago.
The 21-year-old’s form has seen him earn a call-up to Spain’s national squad ahead of Euro 2016 this summer, earning the step-up from the reserve list after an injury to Dani Carvajal.
Our landlord believes Bellerin is not like Fabregas though and wouldn’t seek a move at this time, as he genuinely feels Arsenal are on the rise.
