Tottenham supporters have been in good voice in the Transfer Tavern in recent times after seeing their team start 2018 with a routine 2-0 victory over the Premier League’s bottom side Swansea City at the Liberty Stadium on Tuesday.
Mauricio Pochettino’s men went into their opening clash of 2018 off the back of impressive wins over Burnley and Southampton, yet they still remained adrift of Liverpool in the race for a top four place. Nonetheless, Spurs reduced their arrears to four points as goals from Fernando Llorente and Dele Alli sealed a comfortable success over Carlos Carvalhal’s struggling Swans, thus setting the North London outfit up perfectly for their derby with David Moyes’ West Ham at Wembley this evening.
Subsequently, there have been many upbeat and positive Spurs fans in the Tavern in the last few days, several of whom are likely to be intrigued and indeed encouraged by a recent report from West London Sport, which details a potentially significant development in the chase to sign reported Tottenham target Ryan Sessegnon.
The 17-year-old left-back burst onto the scene last season by becoming the Championship’s youngest ever goal-scorer in netting in Fulham’s 2-2 draw with Cardiff in August 2016, paving the way for 57 further appearances for Slavisa Jokanovic’s side, in which time he has scored 14 goals and laid on eight assists.
And with seven goals and four assists of which coming this term, the England youth international continues to go from strength to strength, to the point that interest in his services has intensified with Tottenham one side thought to be keeping tabs on his progress.
And Pochettino’s men may well have received a boost as Mauricio Pellegrino’s Southampton, another reportedly interested party, have pulled out of the race to land Sessegnon, thus enhancing Spurs’ chances of bringing the 17-year-old to North London this month.
Landlord’s verdict: Ryan Sessegnon’s meteoric rise has been nothing short of sensational, with the 17-year-old becoming a key part of Slavisa Jokanovic’s plans at Championship side Fulham.
And his excellent efforts for the Cottagers in recent times, including seven goals and four assists this term, have attracted interest from some clubs in the Premier League, with Mauricio Pochettino’s Tottenham thought to be keen on the young left-back.
And Spurs have reportedly received a boost as Mauricio Pellegrino’s Southampton have reportedly ended their interest in the Englishman, thus giving Pochettino’s men a much greater chance of landing Sessegnon in this month’s transfer window.
