Espanyol’s Borja Iglesias has been strongly linked with a move to Everton in the January transfer window.

However, it appears The Toffees are about to suffer a major blow in their pursuit of the striker.

According to Marca, they claim the 25-year-old has turned down an approach from the Premier League outfit this winter and has made it clear that he wants to end the season with Espanyol.

It is understood Marco Silva’s side were prepared to pay the €28million clause for Iglesias, however, the player has refused to entertain a move.

The striker, who only arrived in the summer from Celta de Vigo, has been in prolific form in La Liga for Espanyol, recording nine goals so far this season.

The Verdict:

The news that Iglesias has turned down a winter move will come as a huge blow to Everton this January.

The Toffees are in need for a striker to help them find regular goals in the Premier League and he may have been the player to help them do that.

Although he has not ruled out leaving Espanyol in the summer, the Goodison Park outfit will need to look elsewhere if they are to try and add firepower in the winter transfer window.
