Boss ‘certain’ he’ll take Man United job, no talks held with French champions

jose mourinhojose mourinho98Manchester United fans in the Transfer Tavern are breathing a sigh of relief today, after it was indicated reports they heard earlier in the week are false.

The Manchester Evening News states that, despite reports to the contrary, Jose Mourinho has not held talks with Paris Saint-Germain and remains confident he’ll replace Louis Van Gaal at Old Trafford this summer.

With Laurent Blanc’s future in the French capital under scrutiny, links with PSG and Mourinho were always likely to rise. However, it’s stated that the Portuguese boss’ agent, Jorge Mendes, held further talks with Ed Woodward this week.

Mourinho has also been linked to two of his former employers, Inter Milan and Real Madrid, but it’s very much Manchester United who he remains keen on joining and such a move would see him go toe-to-toe with Pep Guardiola once again.

The pair endured a turbulent relationship during their spells in charge of Real Madrid and Barcelona respectively and with the duo both potentially in Manchester next year, the Premier League could see a proper rivalry for the first time since Sir Alex Ferguson and Arsene Wenger were in their prime.

United fans, what’s the delay with Mourinho? Are you confident you’ll still land your man? Let us know in the comments below!
