Manchester United fans in the Transfer Tavern haven’t moved from the sofas in the past few days, as they wait for the seemingly inevitable appointment of a new manager at Old Trafford.
Speculation continues to rise surrounding Louis Van Gaal and potential predecessors, with the latest coming from reports today, as The Sun state Jose Mourinho has turned down numerous jobs as he waits for the availability of the United position.
Mourinho has been bookies favourite for the United job ever since his dismissal from his role at Chelsea in December and it’s reported he was immediately told by the Red Devils’ hierarchy to sit tight and wait for Van Gaal’s job to become available.
As such, Mourinho has rejected lucrative job offers from Italy, where he won an unprecedented treble with Inter Milan previously, and from the emerging football market in China.
Van Gaal looks extremely likely to remain in charge of United beyond this season and our landlord believes it’s only a matter of time for him to lose his job, stating Mourinho will inevitably come in.
