Both Newcastle and Everton should ensure they secure the signing of this Championship starlet in January

Newcastle United and Everton are two of the nations most followed and well supported clubs, and are both having differing seasons once again this time round.

With the Magpies looking to survive and secure Premier League football with seemingly no budget, there seems to be a bit of problem for manager Rafa Benitez in terms of bringing in the quality of player he wants.

For Everton, they have enjoyed an excellent turnaround under new manager Sam Allardyce, with the club now on a march up the table and having very little to worry about in terms of relegation.

However, here in the Tavern, our landlord has been a bit disappointed in both clubs, and he thinks the January window represents a good chance for both clubs to look into the Championship and try and pinch some of the top talent from the second tier.

One such player who he thinks they should go all out for is Sheffield United youngster David Brooks, who before being struck down with illness before Xmas, was delivering some quite superb performances for the Blades.

At just 20, Brooks is already a full Welsh international, and has destroyed the likes of Leeds United and Sheffield Wednesday this season with ease.

United will simply not want to sell Brooks, but both the Toffees and the Magpies have the financial strength to possibly tempt the Blades into a sale, and it would be difficult for Brooks to turn down a move to the top flight.

Newcastle and Everton fans, what do you think? Good signing? Let us know!
