‘Bottled it’ – Tottenham fans on Twitter fume after stadium reports

The Tottenham fans in the Transfer Tavern are fuming with a story in The Daily Mail that claims Spurs could be playing their first home game at Wembley as they await completion of their new stadium. The fans don’t want to see their club play at two different home grounds in the same season and would rather have a reschedule of the season that sees them play all their games away until construction on their new ground is completed.

The last thing the Lilywhites propping our bar up is more games at Wembley. The club played out all of their home games at the national stadium this season and despite picking up some memorable wins, the fans didn’t take to Wembley and they’ll be buzzing to get back to a ground that they can call home. However, it could be a long time until that happens with the stadium looking like it may not be finished until mid-September.

The new Premier League season starts on August 11th and the club will most likely be playing their first three league games away from home. The club are also set to be given permission to play their Carabao Cup 3rd round tie away from home and following that will be the first international break of the season on September 15th. The stadium should be done by that point, although if it’s not the fans may have to endure one game at Wembley.
