The Bournemouth fans who are gathered at the bar in The Transfer Tavern this evening are discussing comments made by their captain.
The Daily Star is reporting that Bournemouth captain Tommy Elphick has urged Eddie Howe to make a move for Tottenham midfielder Ryan Mason this summer.
Mason has found chances limited at White Hart Lane this season due to the form of the impressive Dele Alli this season, and Elphick feels he would fit perfectly into the squad for their second season in the Premier League next term.
Speaking about Mason, Elphick said:
“Ryan is exactly the sort of player that we have got to be looking at. It’s good to know that the club are trying to bring better talent in and improve the squad. I think that comes with the territory we are in now. Our players have done well and some people are looking at them. But then we are able to look at players like Ryan.”
“There is always a need to strengthen. We want to better this season’s finish next year. But it is up to the higher ups who we sign. We need to keep the core of the squad together, keep progressing together. With some of the lads coming back I think we will be better than we have been this year.”
“The ultimate decision is down to the gaffer and there is no better man in charge to be the judge of what we need. Obviously the changing room is so important here and the togetherness. We are all at a very good age where we are progressing and Ryan would fit that.”
The Bournemouth fans in The Tavern would be delighted if Mason signed and feel he would be a great addition for next season.
