Bournemouth seem to be in the market for a new goalkeeper and, after last season, it is no surprise.

Simply put, Asmir Begovic was not good enough for the Cherries. Between the sticks, he made mistake after mistake, with five of them leading to the opposition scoring in the Premier League.

The south coast club could now look to sign Burnley's Joe Hart, with the Sun reporting that Eddie Howe sees him as an alternative to Jack Butland.

With plenty of experience at the highest level, Howe's thinking is not completely unfathomable here. But even so, he would still have to be pretty crazy to go anywhere near Hart this summer.

The 32-year-old has been on the decline for some time now and, like Begovic, he can also be prone to making very silly and costly mistakes.

For example, back in the 2017/18 Premier League season, Hart made four errors leading to goals for West Ham, with only Begovic once again (5), Hugo Lloris (5) and Petr Cech (6) having made more.

It must be said that in the season that has just gone by, Hart managed to reduce that number down to zero. The defensive protection of James Tarkowski and Ben Mee, though, arguably played a part in that.

Will the former Manchester City man get that sort of shielding at the Vitality Stadium? Probably not with Bournemouth being a much more adventurous side under Howe.

Of course, you never quite know what kind of Hart is going to turn up after witnessing his inconsistent past couple of seasons, so avoiding a move for him would be sensible.

When you consider all of that, the Cherries would be better off looking elsewhere this summer.
