Bournemouth: Fans delighted that Aaron Ramsdale has signed a new contract

Goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale has signed a new long-term contract with AFC Bournemouth (via afcb.co.uk).

The 21-year-old has made his first team breakthrough at the Vitality Stadium this season, starting in each of the Cherries’ nine Premier League matches so far (via Transfermarkt).

He has taken to top-flight football like a duck to water. Indeed, he has made the joint-fourth-most amount of saves so far this term with 29 (via premierleague.com), and even managed to claim an assist in Bournemouth’s victory against Southampton (via Transfermarkt).

Against Norwich City on Saturday, the youngster kept his first clean sheet of the season (via BBC Sport), and he has now been rewarded by the club for his fine form.

Ramsdale joined Bournemouth from Sheffield United in 2017, and enjoyed loan spells at Chesterfield and AFC Wimbledon before breaking into the Cherries first team ahead of the likes of Asmir Begovic and Artur Boruc this term.

Speaking to Bournemouth’s official website, manager Eddie Howe said: “Aaron is a very talented goalkeeper who is at an important stage of his career and his development, and I’m delighted that he has pledged his future to us.”

It would be fair to say that Bournemouth’s fans are delighted to see the England under-21 international commit his future to the club, with many offering him their congratulations on Twitter following the announcement.
