The Landlord at The Transfer Tavern has just found out some news for our resident Bournemouth fans.
Cherries manager Eddie Howe is plotting a deadline day swoop for Sunderland striker Jermaine Defoe in a £5miilion deal, according to The Sun.
Howe has been given a sizable transfer fund to enable the best possible chance of staying in The Premier League this season and see Defoe as the man who will fire The Cherries to safety.
Howe is ready to table a £5million bid but Sunderland would be reluctant to let one of the most gifted finishers leave in this window, particularly to a fellow relegation rival, unless they themselves land their own transfer targets.
Defoe has scored 166 Premier League goals and is still regarded as one of the top flight most deadly finishers, and has been the subject in past windows with late deadline day moves in previous windows.
Defoe would not be against a move back to the south coast where he made his name as a prolific finisher in a loan spell with Bournemouth back in 2000.
Have your say…..Would you Like to see Defoe at Bournemouth? Is £5million too much for the 33 year old? Can Sunderland afford to lose Defoe? leave your comments below
