The Bournemouth fans in the Tavern tonight are looking forward to the start of the new season following on from an impressive transfer window so far…
You will be forgiven for not knowing who Lys Mousset is.
The young French forward joined Bournemouth this time last year for a fee in the region of £5.4 million.
Since his move to the south coast of England however, he hasn’t see much game time. Just the 14 appearances in all competitions last season and only completing a full 90 mins one, Mousset struggled to break his way into the side.
With Josh King ever improving, Benik Afobe ready and waiting and new signing Jermain Defoe hoping to break into the starting 11, it will probably be the same story this season too.
With that being said, the best thing for both Bournemouth and Mousset would be to loan the youngster out.
He could have a season of consistent first team football and would be able to display his talents for Eddie Howe to see, to give him something to think about when he returns.
If Mousset remains at the club again this season, he will stagnate and all of that potential that Howe paid over £5 million for would be completely wasted.
With the current French senior squad at the moment, it looks like they’re producing top quality players left right and centre, Mousset could be one of those, but not from the bench at the Vitality.
Send the youngster out on loan, Howe and let him show you what he is capable of and what he can bring to your side.
