After establishing themselves as a Premier League side after an astronomical rise up the Football League, Bournemouth will look ahead to the new campaign with hopes of emulating their impressive 9th placed finish next season.
It will be a tall order for the Cherries to continue to rise any further than they already have, but the sky is the limit for Eddie Howe’s side, who seem to get better and better every season.
The majority of our in house Bournemouth fans here at the Transfer Tavern spent the whole season in the corner with a quiet pint pinching themselves, scarcely believing the exploits and success of their beloved side.
Our landlord managed to snap them out of their trances for a few moments to have a catch up ahead of the new season, and Bournemouth’s transfer activity was on the agenda.
After seemingly missing out on John Terry, fans believe Howe will be in the market for another centre half, and our landlord can see nobody better for the Cherries right now than Calum Chambers.
The south coast club will be in the good books at Arsenal having nurtured Jack Wilshere to a relatively injury free season (he made it to April to be fair before breaking something), and a loan move for Chambers could be on the cards.
Although Middlesbrough were relegated last year, Chambers loan spell with the club was successful, with the former Southampton man one of the most consistent players in Boro’s doomed season.
Bringing Chambers to the Vitality Stadium will seriously bolster Howe’s defensive unit.
