Bournemouth manager still in the market for defensive reinforcements

The Bournemouth fans who are competing in a pool tournament in The Football Transfer Tavern this evening handed a boost as their boss has revealed some of his plans for this summer window.

According to a report in The Guardian, Bournemouth manager, Eddie Howe has confirmed that the club are still in the market to bring a couple more defenders into the club this summer.

With captian Tommy Elphick and experienced centre-half both having left the Vitality Stadium after last season, the Cherries will be looking to bolster their defensive ranks.

Speaking about the need for reinforcements, Howe said: “We need a balanced squad, players that are fighting for every position, so I think it’s obvious there’s an area we need to improve.”

Bournemouth have had a productive summer in the market so far having already brought in young talents, Lewis Cook and Jordan Ibe, and they are now linked with a move for Ibe’s former Liverpool teammate Brad Smith after having a bid for the defender accepted over the weekend.

One thing is for sure that Howe has the right ingredients in his squad and with another couple of decent additions they could find themselves comfortably in mid table next season.

Cherries fans, we want to hear from you! What do you make of Howe’s admission that the defence needs adding to? Would Brad Smtih be a good signing? Let us know below…
