Bournemouth fans in the Transfer Tavern are delighted to see their summer signing get underway as Eddie Howe sealed his first deal of the window.

The Cherries finished a happy 12th last season, securing Premier League football at the Vitality Stadium for yet another season. With more money available to the promoted clubs, staying up will be even tougher next year. Howe spent £36m on new signings last summer, and our punters are hoping for more of the same.

After selling Benik Afobe on a permanent deal to Wolverhampton Wanderers, the Cherries moved quickly to secure a £10m deal for Sheffield United youngster – David Brooks. The 20-year-old has emerged as one of the Championship’s top prospects thanks to his breakthrough season with the Blades. He signed a four-year deal with his new club and is valued at £4.5m by Transfermarkt.

Brooks made 30 appearances in the Championship last season, scoring three goals and creating four. He instantly became a hit with United fans in just his second league start against rivals Sheffield Wednesday where he was named man of the match in the 4-2 victory. Despite scoring for England in the final of the 2017 Toulon Tournament, Brooks switched his allegiance to Wales where he has won three caps.

With excellent dribbling and a low centre of gravity, the 20-year-old has all the right attributes to be a success in the Premier League. Rejecting bigger clubs to move to Bournemouth is a wise decision, he will have plenty of game time under the tutelage of Howe. Quick on the ball, Brooks will delight the Bournemouth faithful with his ability to take on a defender.

Brooks has the talent and ability to be a huge star in the Premier League, now is the time for him to prove it.
