Move for Chelsea man quashed as manager lifts lid on links

Bournemouth fans in the Transfer Tavern were almost left choking on their pints last week following links to Chelsea’s John Terry, so they were hardly surprised with comments from their manager today.

Sky Sports quote Cherries boss Eddie Howe as denying a loan move for Chelsea’s veteran captain has been made, as Bournemouth seek a replacement for Nathan Ake.

The south coast side saw Ake’s successful loan spell on the South Coast from Premier League leaders Chelsea cut short this month, leaving Howe’s men with a big void to fill for the second-half of the campaign.

Despite this, Terry is not an option for the Cherries and Howe has denied that any talks between the club and the veteran defender have not taken place- although he revealed his admiration for the former England skipper.

“No. No negotiations with Chelsea at all. I admire John Terry greatly as a footballer, he’s one of my favourite ever central defenders”, said Howe.

“When I looked at people when I was playing to try and emulate and get close to, he was one that I followed but there’s been no discussions and no meeting. Nothing.”

Our landlord isn’t surprised by the move as he feels there is better options out there for Howe to consider, a statement that the Bournemouth faithful in the bar agree with.

However, he has been impressed by the fact Jack Wilshere was brought to the club in the summer and believe the Cherries are going places.
