The Bournemouth fans who are gathered at the bar in The Transfer Tavern this evening are in party mood following the news that one of their star performers has signed a new deal.
The club has confirmed via their official website that Callum Wilson has signed a new four year deal on the South Coast and the news will be greatly received by Cherries boss Eddie Howe.
The 23-year-old played a huge role with 23 goals two seasons ago when he helped the club reach the Premier League for the first time in its history.
Last year however was disappointing for the former Coventry striker as he suffered a bad injury which ruled him out for most of the last campaign and he will be eager to show what he can do in the Premier League over the coming season.
The striker was on fire in front of goal in the opening weeks of last season, hitting five goals in the opening six games, form that saw him earmarked for an England call up before injury hit.
Chief executive of the Cherries Neil Blake could not contain his delight at Wilson signing a new contract telling the club’s official website “We’re absolutely delighted that Callum has signed a new four-year deal.
“Callum has constantly improved during his time here and only his injury stopped him from having a big impact in the Premier League last year.
“Now back to full fitness, we’re excited to see Callum continue to improve over the next four years.”
The Bournemouth fans in The Tavern are as equally delighted and are sure that with Wilson’s goals the club could easily secure a safe mid table finish next season.
