Drunk Bournemouth fans have taken over the Transfer Tavern, lost in the riot-inducing celebrations caused by news that John Terry and Jermain Defoe could both join the club this summer.
Chelsea’s ‘Captain, Leader, Legend’ and Sunderland’s talismanic goalscorer will both be in demand this summer, when they’re set to be available on free transfers.
Terry certainly will be after announcing his intention to leave Chelsea on Monday, with his Stamford Bridge contract due to expire, whereas Defoe will be free to leave the Stadium of Light for nothing through a relegation release clause unless the Black Cats beat the improbable challenge of avoiding the drop.
West Ham were linked with their former charger, who has netted 14 times this season, at the end of last month and The Gambling Times have discussed their interest once again, but believe that Bournemouth are now in pole position to sign the 34-year-old.
The claim comes via reliable journalist Graeme Bailey, who also states that Bournemouth are well-placed to sign Terry as well – a sure-fire remedy to Eddie Howe’s side conceding the third-most goals of any Premier League club this term.
It’s further added that Howe wants to bring some ‘real Premier League calibre experience’ into his squad this summer. With over 950 Premier League appearances between them, Terry and Defoe are the perfect signings to provide it.
