Manchester City lead the way at the top of the Premier League table having gone unbeaten domestically under Pep Guardiola so far this season.
The Citizens don’t look like slowing down any time soon with aims of securing even more silverware in the current campaign. But, it appears as if the defending Premier League champions are set to lose one of their most talented youngsters, as according to the Evening Standard, Real Madrid are closing in on Brahim Diaz.
Real Madrid are closing in on the 19-year-old, who is out of contract at the end of the season, with suggestions he could leave the Etihad as early as January.
Pep Guardiola claims City have done all they can to keep hold of the Spaniard.
“The case of Brahim is very simple: we want him to stay, we want to extend his contract for four or five years and we’ll do absolutely everything to keep him here. But as I said before it’s in his hands.
“My advice is: If he doesn’t want to stay, he has to leave.”
The attacker is in the same category as Jadon Sancho, a special talent that just wasn’t given enough chances at the Etihad Stadium. He managed to score his first two goals for the club against Fulham in the Carabao Cup earlier on this season, but not even that was enough to earn him a regular place.
Pep Guardiola will continue to try and persuade the youngster to commit to a long-term deal at the club, but it looks as if he is already on his way out of the Etihad, with a January move potentially in the offing.
Nevertheless, with Real Madrid closing in on securing his services, it looks as if he is set to ditch Guardiola’s Manchester City for a move back to his home country.
