Manchester City supporters in the Football Transfer Tavern have been left feeling hopeful in their pursuit of Brazilian midfielder Fernandinho after the Shakhtar Donetsk star confirmed that he wants to move to Manchester in the summer to help enhance his chances of playing for his country at the 2014 World Cup.
The 28-year-old has been strongly linked with a move to Roberto Mancini’s side this summer after his impressive showings for Shakhtar during the recent Champions League campaign and Mancini has even stated his admiration of the playmaker.
He told The Sun: “I believe my chances of making the World Cup squad will improve if I join City.
“My exposure would be better, because Brazil is biased towards the Ukrainian league.
“What we do here is not recognised in my country. Playing in a division, at a club that is considered among the best in the world would help me get back in the Brazilian national team.
“There are a lot of people in England with good football knowledge. Those complement my skills, and motivate me to want to play in the Premier League.”
Although he has a £42.5 million release clause in his contract, reports suggest that he could be available for nearer £20 million which makes him an attractive option for the former Premier League champions.
