News has reached us in the Football Transfer Tavern today that Manchester City have been offered encouragement in their bid to bring Brazilian midfielder Fernandinho to the club this summer.
The Express suggests that the Shakhtar Donetsk man wants to be part of Manuel Pellegrini’s revolution at City as he looks to test his undoubted ability at a higher level.
The playmaker has a release fee in his current contract of £42.5 million but City are eager to reduce the up front cost as they look to comply with the UEFA Financial Fair Play rules. The 28-year-old, who had been with the Ukrainian club since 2005, has now requested that his club reduce the fee so that he could earn a move to England in the near future.
He said: “The day I signed, the club’s director guaranteed me that was normal with his players and that in a transfer, we could negotiate and reach an agreement on the price.
“I trusted them, and I didn’t think about the consequences it would bring me in the future
“My dream is being threatened because of the high valuation.”
