Brazilian Europa League opponent could be a wonderful signing for Everton this month

Everton began the season in abysmal fashion, falling into the relegation zone under former boss Ronald Koeman, but following the arrival of Sam Allardyce, the Toffees have appeared resurgent.

Addressing the clubs defensive woes upon his arrival paid dividends for the former England boss, with Everton climbing away from the bottom-three and into the top half of the table. Fans here in The Transfer Tavern were sceptical of Allardyce’s appointment following his contentious England reign, but now sing the praises of the former Bolton and West Ham gaffer long into the night. Allardyce has already flexed his muscles in the transfer window since his arrival, bringing in Besiktas striker Cenk Tosun in a £27 million deal, and more faces are expected before the window closes at the end of the month.

Fans are keen to see another defender brought in, and after being schooled by Italians Atalanta in the Europa League this season, are insistent that a bid for defender Rafael Toloi must be made. The big Brazilian is having a sensational year for the Europa League hopefuls, performing to a consistently high standard and even managing to record an impressive four assists from his berth at the heart of the defence. Formerly of Roma and Sao Paulo, Toloi has made a name for himself at Atalanta, and deserves a move to the Premier League to prove he has what it takes to succeed at the highest level. Allardyce should make a move for the 27-year-old this month, if he harbours serious aspirations of a top-seven finish this season.
