Here in the Football Transfer Tavern we have been talking about the future of Willian frequently over the last couple of weeks and the quotes from the Metro are not about to change this.
The exciting player has stated that he would quite like to make a move to Liverpool this summer after being told by current club, mega rich Anzhi Makhachkala, that he is welcome to leave in order to reduce the wage bill. As we all know, Spurs and long term fan Andre Villas Boas have been linked with the player over a long period of time and should the club sell Gareth Bale, they will certainly have pots of money to spend. Liverpool are in a similar situation with Luis Suarez, but Brendan Rodgers would like to add quality to the squad regardless.
Willian, who will command a fee of around £30 million, said:
‘There are conversations, and I am hoping in the next few days for an offer from a club like Liverpool,
‘If it is Liverpool, then they are a great club. The news came as a real shock, but I’m calm about it and hoping for the best because I’ve been told they will help the players to go, if they get a good offer.
‘I am hoping there will be something from Liverpool, because England is a league that I’ve dreamed of playing in.’
