Manchester United supporters in the Foootball Transfer Tavern are looking rather pleased after yesterday’s emphatic victory over Bayer Leverkusen.
The win confirmed David Moyes’ sides’ place in the last sixteen of the Champions League and was probably the finest they have performed this season.
Now The Express continue the positive mood among Red Devils supporters in the tavern by suggesting that United are looking at Brazilian international full back Alex Sandro as they continue to seek a long-term replacement for Patrice Evra.
The French international defender sees his contract expire at the end of the current season and that could see him departing Old Trafford with Monaco and Paris Saint-Germain promising a bumper pay package if he completes a return to Ligue 1.
This has seen Moyes eyeing up a potential replacement with Everton’s Leighton Baines the man on most peoples’ lips but now Sandro appears to have become a target as the pursuit for Baines continues to fail.
Portuguese reports have suggested that the Red Devils could challenge Inter Milan for the highly rated 22-year-old.
It appears that United saw a recent £12.5 million bid rejected as Porto look to hang onto their defender, who originally joined the club from Santos in an £8 million deal back in 2011.
Having already made his Brazilian senior international debut at just 22, the young full back could now be making the switch to Old Trafford as the Premier League search for a successor for Evra.
Would the young Brazilian full back prove a suitable replacement for Evra? Let us know your thoughts below.
