There are elated faces here in the Football Transfer Tavern as Manchester United fans finally feel like they can look forward to the arrival of Barcelona’s Thiago Alcantara – well according to the Metro that is.
The Red Devils have been linked with the 20-yea-old star for some time now and it seems that Barcelona are finally willing to admit defeat and let their young starlet leave.
United and David Moyes had been willing to treble the salary of the Spanish Under-21 skipper and are set to throw everything including the kitchen sink at Tito Vilanova and his staff in order to convince them that Thiago should join United.
The player himself has admitted his love for Barcelona yet has been clear about the fact that waiting on the bench behind Xavi and Andres Iniesta is not how he sees his future and a link up with David Moyes at Old Trafford – which would provide him with first team football is something he finds very appealing.
One thing that Catalan giants Barcelona have made clear is the fact that Thiago will not be allowed to leave the club until a suitable replacement is found and a fee matching their valuations is offered so there is a bit of work to be done yet.
Will Thiago Alcantara be lining up in the famous red shirt of United in 2013/14? Let us know your thoughts below.
