Breakthrough in transfer talks could reportedly lead to major money Man United deal this summer

Manchester United fans in the Transfer Tavern will be calling for new recruits this summer as they prepare to compete with Manchester City next season, and they could be about to get their wish.

The locals will not have been impressed by the performance of their side against Brighton and Hove Albion on Friday night when they were beaten 1-0, proving that some of the fringe players are not good enough for the first-team.

Jose Mourinho has constantly stated that he is not happy with parts of his squad in public, however, according to reports in The Sun, the Portuguese boss is set to make his first addition of the window, having made breakthrough talks.

SS Lazio’s Sergej Milinkovic-Savic has been on the Old Trafford radar for some time now and it appears that the two sides have made an agreement for a transfer costing around £80milllion. The 23-year-old would fit the desire Mourinho has in bringing a world-class midfielder, and have accepted that they will need to spend big to bring him from the Serie A.

United will be looking to ensure the deal can be completed before the start of this summer’s World Cup, with the player set to feature for Serbia and will hope his performances do not drive up his asking price.

Landlord’s Verdict

The United locals in the Tavern will be delighted that they are in advanced talks about bringing Milinkovic-Savic to Old Trafford next season and will be hoping he can fill the void in the middle of the park that Michael Carrick’s retirement brings.

The punters will use this summer’s major tournament to watch the midfielder to see how well he does, as they look to see what he can bring to them as they aim to compete with rivals Manchester City for the Premier League title.
