Brendan Rodgers is being absolutely slated on Twitter after his Arsenal comments

Numerous fans in the Transfer Tavern have been laughing at Brendan Rodgers as he took the step to rule himself out of the running for the Arsenal job during an interview with TalkSPORT. The former Liverpool man guided Celtic to their fifth major honour in two years yesterday when they confirmed the Scottish Premiership title by beating Old Firm rivals, Rangers 5-0 at Parkhead.

Having ruled himself out of the Arsenal job that will be available in summer, a number of fans of different clubs all made the same jibe that Rodgers was never even being considered for the role. Talks are supposedly on-going between Arsenal and a number of different managerial candidates as the North Londoners look to find the right man to take over from Arsene Wenger this summer.

Brendan Rodgers’ name had been thrown into the hat when Wenger first announced the news, although his inclusion was met with frustration by Arsenal fans. The Gunners have linked with Mikel Arteta, Patrick Vieira, Carlo Ancelotti and Thomas Tuchel very heavily, with the majority of Arsenal fans believing that any of those four would be a better option than the 45-year-old Celtic gaffer.
