Brighton: Fans react to seeing Knockaert watching away game

Many Brighton fans have expressed their sadness and frustrations after seeing a fan favourite in Anthony Knockaert in the stands to watch AFC Wimbledon take on Brighton U21s in the EFL Trophy competition.

Brighton U21s travelled to Kingsmeadow in the competition and managed to take the three points back to the south coast after two second-half goals.

To the surprise of many fans, Knockaert was seen at the Dons’ stadium and the Brighton club account tweeted a picture of the player on their account.

Knockaert, 27, is currently on loan away from the club at Fulham. However, there is an option to buy at the end of the spell, meaning that there is a good chance that he will not return to the Amex.

Knockaert has long been a fan favourite in Brighton, and it’s not hard to see why with the player – he scored 27 goals and made 25 assists in his 139 appearances for the Seagulls (via Transfermarkt).

Brighton fans responded pretty negatively, with a split of fans either asking why they let the player go and other fans just enjoying seeing him take the time to watch Brighton.
