Brighton head into the 2017/18 campaign ready for a first crack at the Premier League, led by their sound minded manager Chris Hughton.
The Seagulls missed out on the Championship title on the final day of the season, but this will matter little in the long term, with the key aim last season simply getting out of the second tier.
The Brighton fans have been flooding into the Tavern ever since promotion, and our landlord has been spending some time getting to know them and what their thoughts and feelings are for the club heading into the summer.
With new signings likely to be needed, our landlord has suggested one established Premier League player who could have a big impact at the Amex, and that man is Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge.
The England international had a wayward season under Jurgen Klopp last term, drifting in and out of the team, but in the main, spending his time injured or on the bench.
However, a move to a newly promoted club like Brighton could be the making of him once more, where he would no doubt become a regular and be one of the main focuses of attention.
Brighton are going to need more goals, and despite having Glenn Murray and Anthony Knockaert among the ranks, signing someone of Sturridge’s quality could be a major coup for Chris Hughton.
It’s a transfer which could make a lot of sense for all parties involved, and one which could certainly have a big say in if Brighton stay up or not.Like what the TT have on offer? Sign up for more notifications!
