Brighton would seriously push for Europe with arrival of £13.5m-rated Watford man this summer

Brighton fans in the Transfer Tavern can look forward to another season in the Premier League and enjoy their remaining fixtures.

The Seagulls have a difficult end to the campaign, but with safety already secured, there is nothing left to play for. Chris Hughton’s side will face two difficult away trips to Manchester City and Liverpool looking to build on their fantastic win against Manchester United last time out.

With Premier League status secured, attention can be turned to the summer transfer window. The Seagulls will benefit greatly from staying in the division with the huge TV deals giving smaller clubs the means to compete in the competitive market. High on Hughton’s agenda will be a new forward.

Glenn Murray leads the club’s scoring charts with 12 goals, but the forward is approaching the end of his career at 34-years-old. If the Seagulls are to avoid the drop again next year, goals need to be added to the side. The perfect man for the job could be Watford hitman – Andre Gray.

Valued at £13.5m by Transfermarkt, the Englishman has fallen out of favour at Vicarage Road following the arrival of Javi Gracia. He has made just 15 starts in the Premier League since making the £18.5m from Burnley in the summer – scoring five goals. Another change of scenery could be just what he needs.

At 26, Gray’s best years are ahead of him and his time at Burnley proved he was capable of scoring goals at the highest level. Watford are likely to cut their losses with the forward in the summer which Brighton should take advantage of. Indeed, we’ve seen how soft the middle belly of the Premier League is, so a move for Gray could even help Hughton’s men push for Europa League football next season.
