The Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern have been reacting to their club’s latest edition of Chelsea here Chelsea there, where the club looks at how their on-loan players have got on over the weekend’s football. The fans have been calling for a number of their loanees to be recalled and thrust into the first team as the club’s current seniors have been struggling for form.
A latest look at our players out on loan…https://t.co/V34QfNbnBA

Chelsea have developed a reputation for stifling youth development and loaning out dozens of players each year with very few of them going on to make a career out of their time at Stamford Bridge. Even just this term, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Michy Batshuayi, Marco Van Ginkel, Kenedy, Kurt Zouma and Charly Musonda have been loaned to clubs throughout Europe when they are all good enough to be challenging to get into Antonio Conte’s first-team.
The fans are visibly frustrated by their club’s loan system as they’ve called for a number of players to be recalled to London and given first-team opportunities at the expense of some of the club’s underperforming stars. Chelsea are in an awkward position at the moment, the club sit seven points behind Tottenham in the final Champions League place and with just five games remaining it’s looking very unlikely that the Blues will go on to secure a place among Europe’s elite next year. The fans will be hoping that with some of their on-loan stars can help them achieve Champions League football next season, as they wonder what could’ve been.

Spoiler: they’re doing better than the first team

To be honest, RLC, Mount, Zouma, Batshuayi and MvG are the ones who truly deserve a shot in the first team. #CFC
