The Manchester City fans in the Transfer Tavern have been reacting to a story on Sky Sports News that Mikel Arteta is holding talks with Arsenal’s representatives about becoming the next gaffer at The Emirates. Arsene Wenger took charge of his last game at the club away at Huddersfield last weekend, bringing his 22-year-spell to an end.

The speculation surrounding the next Arsenal manager has been high in the last few weeks since Wenger announced his North London bow. Now he’s gone though, The Gunners are entering a new chapter in their history and they’ll need to be sure that they’re getting the right man into the club. A number of high-profile managers have been linked with the job like Luis Enrique, Massimiliano Allegri and Joachim Low, although Arteta seems the most likely.
If the Spaniard becomes the next Arsenal manager it will be his first job in senior management but the Arsenal board don’t seem to have many issues about hiring a manager with a lack of experience. Another former Arsenal captain to be linked with the job is the New York City FC manager, Patrick Vieira. The Frenchman has at least been in senior management recently and could be a good fit.

They are just doing this to save money! The top managers – they will have to pay them a lot! So just get someone new as he won’t ask for that much! Arsenal’s owner milk money from the club and fans

Hope he gets it, and the season after we bring in iniesta as a replacement.
