Arsenal’s season opener is less than a week away, yet the club could well be preparing to make some final moves in the transfer market.

Arsenal have brought in five new players this summer, as the Gunners look to get back into the Champions League spots.

In defence, the Gunners have brought in Sokratis Papastathopoulos for £16million and Swiss international defender Stephan Lichtsteiner on a free transfer.

Both players will add quality to Arsenal’s defence and improve on the faltering back four the Gunners have had over the last few years.

The north London club may not be done there, however, and according to The Sun, Arsenal are considering a £25 million move for Croatian defender, Domagoj Vida.

The Breakdown

Unai Emery wants to improve on his squad and is keen to bring in the Croatian defender who was a star during the World Cup.

While Arsenal have had a solid pre-season, in defence the Gunners still no need to improve.

The club’s off the ball pressing has improved massively, as has their play going forward, whereas at the back Arsenal still look slightly weak and error-prone.

At £25 million, Vida would be an instant upgrade over Shkodran Mustafi who in truth, had a poor season last year.

The only downside to this deal is that the Gunners would probably need to sell the German international before they could bring Vida in.

With the Croatian international at the back, Arsenal would have a solid back four and definitely one of the better teams in the league.
