The Everton fans in the Transfer Tavern were delighted to see their side overcome Rafa Benitez’s Newcastle yesterday as they ran out 1-0 winners at Goodison Park. Theo Walcott scored the decisive goal just six minutes into the second-half and the fan all noticed the wild celebrations of their ex-Sunderland shot-stopper, 24-year-old Jordan Pickford.

Pickford swapped the Stadium of Light for Goodison last summer for a sizeable fee as he escaped a season in the Championship. Things couldn’t be more different between Pickford and Sunderland right now, the Black Cats had their second relegation in as many years confirmed when they lost at home to Burton Albion on Saturday whilst Jordan Pickford is weeks away from starting between the stick for England at the World Cup in Russia.
Being a former Sunderland man, the Newcastle fans who travelled to Goodison last night were in no mood to let Pickford have an easy night. The away fans got onto the back of the Everton ‘keeper, although the 24-year-old definitely had the last laugh, with his exuberant celebrations following Theo Walcott’s matchwinning goal. The win lifts Everton to 8th in the Premier League and their position in the Premier League table is in no small part down to the amazing form of their young ‘keeper.

I am sure @JPickford1 wasn’t bothered with the stick from Mags. The win would be worth so much more to him as a player!!
