There’s a few whispers in the Football Transfer Tavern today that South Korean striker Heung-Min Son snubbed possible moves to both Liverpool and Tottenham before signing for Bayern Leverkusen last week.
His agent has confirmed that the 20-year-old former Hamburg forward, who netted eight times last season, wanted to remain in the Bundesliga despite interest from England and instead he signed for Bayer Leverkusen in an £8 million deal.
The transfer finally saw Andre Schurrle leave for Chelsea with the Bundesliga club eyeing Son as a replacement for the Stamford Bridge-bound man.
Son’s agent, Thies Bliemeister told the Daily Star: “Liverpool, Tottenham, Fulham, Southampton and Cardiff were interested in concrete terms.
“At the beginning and Manchester City, Chelsea and Manchester United watched Son. However he confirmed that his client still wanted to play in England one day.”
He added: “I think, at clubs like Liverpool and Tottenham, he would also be able to play. But I think Leverkusen for the next two or three years is the right step to develop.”
Would Son have proved a decent acquisition for Liverpool or Spurs? Let us know your thoughts below.
