It’s a Friday in the Football Transfer Tavern and there is quite a celebratory mood in the bar as punters enjoy the end of another working week.
However a group of Arsenal supporters sat near the fruit machine are looking concerned by the latest speculation coming from The Express.
The paper claims that Bundesliga outfit Borussia Dortmund are potentially eyeing a swoop for Arsenal’s highly rated youngster Serge Gnabry as they look for an unconventional replacement for Bayern Munich bound Robert Lewandowski.
It was confirmed earlier in the week that the Polish striker would be joining Dortmund’s Bundesliga rivals at the Allianz Arena at the end of the current campaign and that has already seen a host of players linked with a move to the Westfalenstadion including Gnabry.
For Arsenal fans, worrying reports have come from Germany where it has been suggested that Dortmund have outlined move for the 18-year-old with manager Jurgen Klopp a keen admirer of the Under-19 international.
Gnabry has put in a series of impressive displays for the Gunners this term since making his debut last season and his best performance so far came in their recent 2-0 victory over North London rivals Tottenham in the FA Cup. The youngster was on hand to gain an assist and looked like a potential star in Arsene Wenger’ side.
Losing him at this stage of his career would be a real concern for Arsenal and it appears possible with Klopp looking outside of the box as he eyes a potential successor to Lewandowski.
