The Daily Mail caught fans in the Football Transfer Tavern off guard with the news that Bayern Munich are in talks to sign former Manchester United and Brighton & Hove Albion goalkeeper Tomasz Kuszczak.
Bayern boss Pep Guardiola wants the Polish free agent as two of his goalkeepers are currently out injured.
The headache for Guardiola is that their reserve keeper Pepe Reina has suffered a calf injury whilst their third choice, Thomas Starke, is facing an operation on his right elbow.
Bayern have been forced to name fourth choice Leopold Zingerle on the bench in recent fixtures.
Kuszczak is undoubtedly seen as a quick, easy and temporary fix and Guardiola has apparently begun discussions to bring him to the Allianz Arena.
The former Barcelona boss will be kicking himself after missing out on the opportunity to re-sign Victor Valdes on a free transfer.
Instead Manchester United have picked up the veteran star and have allowed him to use the facilities at their Carrington training round to recover from his devastating ligament injury, with an option to sign him permanently should he prove his fitness.
Manchester United fans. There are a whole host of free agents out there. Are you astonished to see Bayern moving for your former stopper? Let us know your thoughts below.
